Cringesday on Thursday

Ok. I promise I've got a good one featuring reader materials next week, but to hold you over, behold:

Notice Bee-Spot frequents Lacey and C-tina. This was good ol' fourth grade. L's mom choreographed a totally sweet talent show baton routine to You Can Call Me Al. You can call it awesome.

P.S. Holy Crap! Look at those outfits! I am physically in cringe mode right now.

Are those amoebas on your shirt?

And why wasn't Shain in your baton group?

that's me in top left (pre op).

blythe, you used to be so small!

mr. shain - you are dead to me.

I wonder if you can still get those green and white striped shorts. They're really.... something.

I did "stand-up" comedy for my fifth grade talent show. It was all stuff that I'd ripped off of comedians i'd seen on HBO. Nonetheless, I was a huge hit.

And that's when I broke out my baton and my tights!!! It was also the first time I saw my father cry.

Oh my....those shorts.

The horror.

The horror.

Yes, it will be an honor to be your new non-best friend. I won't even make you do yoga, like some people.

Baton routine to You Can Call Me Al? How great. AT my middle school talent show some girls did an Ed Grimly inspired triangle playing dance to And There She Was. They were way ahead of their time (as were you!).

michael - oh yeah, leprechaun prison garb.

clinton - i would pay several dollars, possibly tens of dollars to see that. also, think you meant to say the first time of many times...

big daddy - you don't even want to know what we'd worn the year before when we busted our collective moves to "peacetrain."

cherry - yay!

chuckdaddy - thank you and brilliant.

I've never understood why the sideways ponytail died. Never.

Mr. Shain said...

well stew, you might be excited to know that the sideways ponytail is making a marginal comback in certain circles in LA. get those scrunchies ready ladies!

jeanette - you win for best.comment.ever. that i'm reading at 4 in the morning. seriously.

upper left is very successful and quite smart, middle is c-tina (fulbright scholar, vegetarian, slide show maker), right is me (unambitious, attractive only with the right light and/or amount of beer consumed, tater tot expert), bottom is i have no idea, right is L (reflexive peer, almost doctor, small wristed). together, we are awkward and only marginally cute.

I wish you would caption all of my pictures.

blythe said...

but jebus, that would require you to post pictures, and i think you and i both know that's not going to happen. or maybe you know and i'm just guessing. you know what i mean, though.

I know no one can see me but trust me when I say I am wearing a sideways ponytail right now.

I have to send you a picture for Cringesday. I have one where I'm all freckled and I still have my baby teeth. I look like a mutant.
Remind me, Bee.

stew - if you're still wearing the side pony - hat's off. also, add a scrunchie.

jch - send it! do it! now!
