Zack Harrison Memorial Music Monday: Look outside - it's fall(!) edition.

Today is October 1. This means several things. Pumpkin themed beers (that you can't get in Oklahoma), crisp days and cool nights (well, anywhere but Oklahoma - it's still in the 80s here), and the promise of a victory each Saturday afternoon (except in Oklahoma if you're a Sooners fan) - wait, fall fucking sucks! In honor of this season that in classic Chinese poetry represents death:

Autumn Almanac - The Kinks (Dan)
I Got Drunk - Uncle Tupelo (Garrett) - interperative
Any and/or all Neko Case (Dre) - perhaps it's her red hair? she does sound like fally.
Indian Summer - Beat Happening or Luna (5 of 9er)
October - U2 (M5K)
September Morn - Neil Diamond (M5k)
Harvest Moon - Neil Diamond (me)
November Rain - GNR (me)

Ok, I didn't get too far, huh. What else? What makes a perfect fall playlist?

While you're thinking, head on over to Meg's to catch the latest episode of Blog of Love.

Autumn Almanac - The Kinks!

I Got Drunk - Uncle Tupelo. It goes a litle something like this: "Well I took a fifth, and I poured me a shot.
And I thought about all the things that I haven't got.
And I drank that down, and I poured me some more.
Kept drinking and pouring till I felt the floor. I got drunk and I fell down. I got drunk and I fell down"

So it is all about fall - only in the past tense.

Since it's still warm here I'll go with "Indian Summer" by Beat Happening... or Luna's version.

U2's "October" or, uh, Neil Diamond's "September Morn" come to mind. Unbidden.

You never did clear up who the hell Zack Harrison is.

m5k - zack was, well, what was zack. he was a senior when i was a sophomore in high school. i think c-tina new him through latin. anyway, he was older, smoked, read kerouac and pynchon, stayed up late talking to me about sartre and kierkegaard and introduced me to ani difranco, a tribe called quest and tom waits. there was nothing romantic between us, so, shain, posting a picture of him would be no problem. (he was kind of goofy looking.)

Is he dead?

not that i'm aware of, that's why it's funny. to me. and me only. which is who this blog is directed toward. he dated this chick i know of all through college, then they broke up and i have no idea what happened after that.

anyone out there know?

Well, if he or his mother ever googles his name, they'll find you straightaway.

I know you're busy but it doesn't make the absence of Cringesday any less painful.

blythe said...

well, you know, friends, that cringesday was predicated on viewer participation. i can only embarrass myself so many times... also, i'm tired. so very tired.

JHC said...

You've seen my photography skills and we both know I'm not fit for Cringesday.
