It's Friday, I'm in Love

but I'm also sad. Very sad. Madeleine L'Engle died yesterday. You know, the lady who wrote A Wrinke In Time? The first time (of a million) I read that book (with my dad) it totally blew my mind. How badly did I want to be like Meg Murray? With all of my little dorked out heart. Those books either confirmed my nerdom or drove me toward geekiness. After the Time Fantasy series, I moved on to reading about the Austins and then proceeded to read and reread each book enjoying their entertwined characters and themes. Cause I'm a super dork. My middle school band was named Nephilim (99.99% of you have no idea what I'm talking about, well in the context of L'Engle)! Not gonna lie, I was especially pleased to learn that she too attended Smith College. Sure, she had a totally weird Christian bent that I don't get, but eh. It's a sad day, but I'm so happy to have had her writing as part of my young life. Or now. Since I'll probably dust off the collection. Love!

Oh shit. I am just realizing for the first time in my pathetic life that Madeline L'Engle and Ursula LeGuin are two separate people. I don't know how things came to this pass, but it's causing some serious cognitive dissonance.

I better put "Wrinkle in Time" on the reading list. Why not, everything else is on it.

That, and the Lorax, are two of my favorite books I read as a kid.

i was sad to hear that too. i made the best diarama ever for A Wrinkle in Time. Meg and friends hung from gardening twine in a reebox shoe box. sweet.

If I ever learn me to read, I am totally reading these books. They sound awesome and stuff, and this "reading" thing seems to be something a lot of smart people do, so someday I might do it. But for now, I am going to watch the remaining three episodes of "Catch an STD from Bret Michaels."

just because you ignored the comment about sneaking the boyfriend through your bedroom window, doesn't mean we've forgotten about it.

oh yes, a wrinkle in time is a modern classic. a must read, if you will.

the lorax! it's a good thing i'm at home so i can just root around for my copy instead of going out and buying a new one. remember the one about bread butter side up and butter side down?

i am going to assume by hanging you mean suspended in air. otherwise, that might be a really sad diarama.

i seem to have no idea what you're talking about. in fact, we may no longer be talking at all. also, what are you doing tonight? call me!
