A message from my Oklahoma relatives:

This is a small sampling of the forwards I receive daily. For some reason, my immediate family has decided to hide our political and religious leanings around the more conservative segments of the extended fam. I guess my parents don't want their parents and siblings to know that they've raised a couple of Godless, bleeding heart liberal children that are in favor of legalizing pot, prostitution, gay marriage and don't give a shit that John McCain was a POW. If I get one more email telling me that Obama is a Muslim, I'm telling all of my little cousins that Santa isn't real.

Just a few facts about McCain:

The potential Commander in Chief finished 894th out of 899 students at the US Naval Academy, to which he gained entrance by virtue of his father and grandfather's military standing as Admirals. (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/18/cafferty.mccain/ )

While he shuns the elite, McCain is unsure of how many homes he owns (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/21/race.tightens/ ).

Just one of Cindy McCain's outfits worn to the RNC could have cost up to $300,000 (http://lifestyle.msn.com/your-look/everyday-style/article.aspx?cp-documentid=8993422). (Michelle Obama's dress worn when she appeared on The View cost $148.)

While he's trying to recall just how many homes he owns and while Cindy shops for more couture clothing, he thinks that average Americans needs to work harder and spend less to manage difficult financial times: including foreclosure:

"Of 80 million U.S. homeowners, 55 million have a mortgage and 51 million of these ``are doing what is necessary -- working a second job, skipping a vacation and managing their budgets,'' McCain said."

McCain receives a social security payment monthly, although he thinks the system is broken and despite his own wealth (book revenue, military pension, investments and his annual salary as a senator of $169,300), not to mention his wife's 100 million dollar fortune. (http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2008/07/14/daily79.html )

In spite of touting Christian moral values, McCain left his disfigured and disabled wife for Cindy McCain, heir to a multi-million dollar brewing company, marrying Cindy barely one month after the divorce was finalized. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/The-wife-John-McCain-callously-left-behind.html )

Obama has served in the US senate for almost four years. His running mate, Joe Biden, has served since 1972 totaling well over three decades of experience. McCain has been in Congress since 1982 (Sarah Palin has governed a state with a population less than the OKC metro area for roughly two years). This year alone, he holds the title for most votes missed (the man in second had a brain hemmorage).( http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/mccain-misses-k.html )

It's not even a good executive summary. Unless it was sent in May of 2005, it is completely inaccurate in relation to Barack Obama--and that's if you ignore his time as an elected congressman in Illinois.

I actually told my grandpa to stop sending me that crap. He got his boxers in a wad, but eventually got over it.
